It has a nice relaxing environment with excellent access to the motorways and the pretty village and the neighbouring village of La Alfoquia offer a wide range of amenities which include, doctor’s surgery, English speaking pharmacy and primary school. Older children can attend the secondary school in La Alfoquia and a school bus transport service is available free of charge.
Zurgena boast one of the most liveliest fiestas within this area and for one week every August the town come alive with International entertainers and attraction rides suitable for all ages.
Zurgena also has much to offer the visitor and resident. There are 5 bars, all of which serve tapas long into the evenings, a kiddie’s play park, the newly constructed sports barn, 2 mini-markets, a bakers ( Open Sundays), 2 banks and two conveniance stores.
The weekly market comes to Zurgena every Friday morning, where there are several fresh fish, meat and veg stalls.
Just over the bridge that separates these two villages lies, La Alfoquia, again enjoys an array of shops including, an electrical shop, a hardware shop, bakery, boutique, petrol station, banks, butchers, tobacconist and for those feeling lucky the lottery shop! June is fiesta time for one week in La Alfoquia, and is a lively affair with plenty of dancing until the morning comes. A recent addition to this town is the fish and chip shop, where traditional Chippy style food can be eaten in or taken away.
